Name & Description of Your Business: Photography by Inga

I specialize in lifestyle family photography and personal branding, encompassing a wide range of events, including bar/bat mitzvahs and micro weddings. As a storyteller photographer, my primary goal is to authentically capture the essence of significant moments and the unique dynamics within families. What makes me stand out in this industry is my talent for making clients feel at ease, my skill in capturing great lighting and composition, and my passion for making each session feel fun and spontaneous.

How would you describe your work?

My role is about preserving the essence of people's lives through the lens. Every session becomes an intimate journey, where I'm granted the privilege of witnessing the heartfelt emotions shared among family and friends. The pride, love, and unbreakable bonds formed through life's triumphs and challenges are all there, waiting to be encapsulated in my photographs.

It's a humbling experience to be invited into the lives of others, entrusted with capturing their most cherished moments. The authenticity of these connections is what makes my job so incredibly special. As I immerse myself in these gatherings, I can't help but feel a part of the shared happiness and love that fills the air.

I love meeting new people and seeing familiar families come back year after year for different special moments. Whether it's taking pictures during the beautiful fall season or capturing important events like bar and bat mitzvahs, family reunions, or engagements, I get excited and look forward to it.

How did you get started?

My journey as a photographer began at a young age, inspired by my father's passion for painting I fell in love with all forms of art. I got into photography in high school and double majored in design and photography in college. Through the lens, I discovered the power to encapsulate emotions, tell stories, and evoke reactions from viewers.

My educational path took me from Syracuse University to a career in branding and package design in New York City. However, when my son was born, I found it very hard to trek to NYC with babies at home. I started taking photos of my baby and my friends' babies, too. What started off as a hobby grew and grew, and in 2010, I founded my business "Photography by Inga."

What challenges do you face as an entrepreneur? How do you handle it all?

Balancing household responsibilities, family life, and my photography business can be challenging, especially considering the seasonal and spontaneous nature of the work. To manage it all effectively, I prioritize communication with my family, maintain a flexible schedule, and use technology to stay organized and responsive to clients.

Do you have any tips for other moms?

Enjoy every second! Each phase of childhood is short and has it's own rewards and challenges. Try to focus on the rewards, and know that the challenges quickly pass.

Do you have a motto that you live by?

Life is 10% what happens to us and 90% how we react to it. Our choices, resilience, and attitude greatly influence the outcomes of our journey.

Any fun facts about your family?

Recently, we embarked on a road trip from San Francisco to Los Angeles, excited for the adventure ahead. As we hit the highway, we chatted, played music, and sang our hearts out. We had some thrilling stops at scenic places, including a visit to the most impressive aquarium in the USA. We also had the chance to escape from Alcatraz and drove across the famous Golden Gate Bridge. At the zoo, we were amazed by the cool cats, and we couldn't resist exploring Hollywood's glamour. Riding roller coasters at Universal Studios was a blast. In between all these exciting moments, we enjoyed the beauty of the picturesque beaches and charming towns. We savored ice cream and Chick-fil-A while capturing wonderful family memories that will always make us feel happy.
